My Second Helmet
My hometown is very far from my university. It is about 59 km. It needs 2 hours on the way. My University is Undiksha located in Singaraja north of Bali. Along my journey there were many policemen. Sometimes they hold some actions to check the completeness for our vehicle, not just showed the driving license card but the safety tool for our head is important. Helmet is the one of it. Helmet with good condition and standard quality needed to protect our head. My helmet was black, it was ugly. I wanted to buy the new one which has new style and brighter color than before. I bought it with my own money, it was about Rp.195.000,00. I felt match with the new one. It can be my favorite tool when I had a long journey to go home or came back to my University.
When I was in the third semester, my department held an event. The event was ESV (English Sport Vaganza). The event was only for student in English Education Department. I was one of the students who joined the event. This event was sport event liked futsal, basketball, volleyball and dance. I participated in basketball team for third semester. Before the event began, I had time to watch the other semester showed their performance. It was about one hour. After that I went to my boarding house to take my clothes for playing basketball in few minutes.
I got a message from my friend that the event would begin in few minutes again. I was hurry up to go back to the Gor. I parked my motorcycle and put my helmet in the mirror without locking it in my motorcycle. In the Gor my entire friends had waited me to do warming up. After a few minute, we were ready to join the event. We played in a team, it was about 40 minutes. The match finished and my team lost. I felt so disappointed with my performance.
I was tired and thirsty. I wanted to go back to my boarding house and took a bath. I went to the park and looked for my motorcycle. I found it, but my helmet lost. I felt confuse. I tried to remember where I put it. I also asked my friend and they did not know. I said to my friend that my helmet lost. I tried to think how I went to my boarding house without wearing a helmet. I wanted to borrow my friend’s helmet, but he also wanted to go to his boarding house. In a few minutes, my friend suggested to look for the alternative way to go to my boarding house. I found the other way to go to my boarding house without passing the main road. I chose the alternative way without wearing a helmet. The alternative way needed more time to arrive to my destination. It was not problem for me, because I felt so tired and needed to take a rest.
It was my fault. I was angry at the moment. I felt that I could not keep my helmet well. I did not want to make mistake like that again. From the event, it made me spent more money to buy the new one. I bought the same helmet but it did not lose my hurt to my second helmet. Although it did not lose my hurt to my second helmet, it is match and always becomes my favorite and safety tool when I have a long journey. Now if I go to the public area in Singaraja, I always put my helmet in the safe position and lock it in my motorcycle. I did not want to find the pity event like that. I had to be more watchful to keep my new helmet.

  1. guna, after reading your essay, there are somethings that i find in your writing that need to be corrected. the first is the word of gor , you could not say gor because not all readers know what the meaning of gor, you should translate it in english or explain what gor is. the second, you could not say my entire friend but my friends or all of my friends. the third you should consistent with the using of present or past tense....
but i can conclude that your essay is good, every idea that you write relate with another idea..your thesis statement also relate with paragraph conclusion..good job..keep doing that.
